A3 v R+B 1      1.2.17

Perhaps the most impressive result of the season for the third team was the 4-1 away win at Radcliffe. The visiting team, with the same players from that match, decisively turned this result around. I arrived just before 9.00 p.m, by which time the visitors seemed comfortably placed on each of the 5 boards. George Murfet and Marcel Taylor promptly converted their advantages against Nigel Wright and Trevor Lewis. With 2 game points in the bag, Radcliffe offered draws on the 2 boards they were pressing, Nick London v Steve Bak, and Mike Nailard v Stan Cranmer to seal the team win. In the last game in progress, Malcolm Jackson did very well to salvage a draw from an apparently losing position.

Result A3 v R+ B1     1.5 - 3.5
