A3 v  A2    20.9.17

The match went to form in line with most expectations. Jerry broke through Steve's King's side defence. David had a tight game with John but a big edge on the clock helped tilt the game in his balance. Neil and myself both had the initiative but couldn't break though our opponents' stubborn defence. Alan got into his usual time trouble with less than a minute on his clock. Playing under the new alternative time limit, he had the pleasant experience of gaining 10 seconds with each move, rather than suffering as his clock ran down. Andy, realising the game was up, resigned. .

The Gambit website has already declared on 8.9.17 - In Division 2 'Ashfield 3 will finish last.' The challenge for Trevor and his team is to try to upturn this prediction.
