Mansfield 1 v Ashfield 1  1.2.18

We had the temerity to take the lead with Neil's quick win. Mansfield dug in and struck back as Jim crashed through Glenn's defence. Mansfield were then pressing for wins on the 3 boards still in play. Jon Molyneux at one point, although a pawn down, seemed to have compensation with the more active pieces. Jon played precisely to untangle his pieces and utilise his pawn majority.Steve and David both defended grimly bur ran out of time. Steve had attained a technically drawn possession when his clock fell

J Tait              1 v 0    J Molyneux
J Burnett        1 v 0    G Halfpenny
P Ackley         1 v 0    S Burke
K Simpson      1 v 0    D Levens
J Wagenbach 0 v 1    N Graham

Another important step in Mansfield's title challenge, while Ashfield 1 are likely to need at least 2 wins from remaining games to have any chance of staving off relegation.
