Ashfield Chess Club meets every Wednesday from September to July in the back room of the Coronation Club on Bannermann Road, Kirkby-in-Ashfield around 19:30 until closing time.

The club was formed in 1965 and is still going strong, now in our 56th year. We are members of the Nottinghamshire Chess Association and currently have four teams playing in the NCA League. We also hold other events such as a Club Championship and rapid-play tournaments.

If you're interested in playing chess at our club, come along any Wednesday evening to meet us. We have no special provisions for junior members but they are just as welcome at the club as long as they are in the care of a responsible adult. We are often involved in matches and other organised events, so to be sure there will be someone available to greet you, it would be a good idea to let us know you'll be coming for your first visit. See our 'Contacts' page.

COVID Pandemic

League Chess was suspended in March 2020. Our club venue has been closed for several months under COVID regulations. We look forward to resuming  our club activity as soon as restrictions are lifted and we can safely do this. Watch this space.
